36"x79"x1.75 Antique Colonial Entry Door w/6 Raised Panels. Antique, exterior door salvaged from an old, up-scale home in Northeastern New Jersey. It is made of solid Douglas Fir or pine, and is painted black on the exterior side and white on the interior side. It has 6 bold, raised panels on both sides. It's quite heavy and weighs about 80lbs.

When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, and soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant.

Rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Hardware : We also have all of the original hardware, but we removed it to keep the price of the door as low as possible. The last 2 photos of the door show it with equipped with it's original hardware. If you're interested in some or all, please message us for prices. The door was installed with aluminum weather-stripping on the exterior (black) side. You could see a 1 band covering the outer edges of the top, and lock stile. Its completely intact and could be re-used, but it could also be removed and the approx. Unevenly cut by 1/4 at some point. The cut was most likely made to compensate for a settling foundation or an old warped floor. We could cut the door to an even 82 3/8, cut it shorter or narrower, and we could also build them it to be taller or wider to fit your opening. You could see some thin vertical lines in the panels (we circled the most obvious). They look like cracks, but they're actually separated paint along the joining points of the parts that make up the panel. Many raised panels are made from several strips of wood joined together with glue.

After the portions of the panel expand and contract for decades, they either separate from each other, or in this case, stretched out the paint when expanded and drew it back when contracted, causing a disturbance or crack in the paint. The other portion that's encircled in the photo of the interior (white side) is where the door knocker was installed. The bolts that were used to affix the knocker were inserted so tightly that they took small chunks of wood with them when we hammered them out. We glued them back, but scars of the repairs are visible.

They'll be gone once you sand and refinish. For technical reasons, a strip of wood was added to the interior side of the lock housing. It's not a patch concealing damage, but more like additional thickness or padding added to the door to support the extra-long stems/rods of the knobs and thumb latches. The strip is easy to remove. Condition : Considering that the door is almost 100 years old, it's in excellent condition.

It has the typical nicks and scratches, which are to be expected for a door this old, but nothing serious like rot, warp, broken or cracked joints, or any serious issues. Sanded for a new coat of paint, or stripped to refinish, most of the blemishes would be removed. What remains will be covered by paint or stain, and only appear a character mark. We could refinish, repaint, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish.

We have hundreds of photos of doors we've worked on over the years for reference. Swing : The door is currently set up to swing inwardly towards the right. Modification : We could also modify this door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with mirror or wooden panels, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc.

35 7/8 " x 78 7/8 " - 79 1/8 " H x 1 3/4 ". Without the weather-stripping, the exterior/black side measures 35 1/2" x 78 5/8". Too tall, short, narrow or wide?
